The RTB ‘Profile of the Register’ is a new data series. It provides information on all private and Approved Housing Body (AHB) tenancies registered with the RTB at the end of each quarter from Q2 2023 onwards.

Under the Residential Tenancies Act, landlords must register new tenancies with the RTB within a month of the start of the tenancy. Since April 2022, landlords must also re-register the tenancy every year that it continues. This data series is based on information gathered during registration.

The ‘Profile of the Register’ provides more accurate and in-depth information than previously available on the Irish rental sector. From Q4 2021 to Q2 2023, the RTB made improvements to its registration processes to eliminate duplicate and inactive tenancies from the Register. These changes included:

The system improvements and enhanced validation processes mean that this new data series is not directly comparable to tenancy figures published for periods prior to Q2 2023.
