Residential Tenancies Board welcomes increased investment in Budget 2026

The Residential Tenancies Board welcomes the increased funding announced in Budget 2026 to support the rental sector. The Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage has allocated €22.8 million in Exchequer funding to support the work of the RTB in 2026.
Speaking on the announcement, Rosemary Steen, Director of the RTB said:
“We welcome the increased funding announced by Minister Browne and his officials in the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage for the Residential Tenancies Board.
As the regulator of Ireland’s rental sector, we work to deliver a fair rental system for both tenants and landlords. This vital investment will support the delivery of quality services and essential upgrades to our digital customer platforms in 2026. This funding also reflects the central role the RTB will play in implementing significant changes to rental law from 1st March 2026.
It will enable us to build on significant initiatives in 2025 to improve RTB customer experience. This progress has included launching a new online Dispute Resolution Centre and a new plain English website to make RTB services easier to access.”
