How to create a registration account

Landlords must register their tenancies by law. The easiest way to do this is through the Tenancy Registration Account portal. This page explains how to create a registration account based on your role.

Individual landlords and individual agents

What you need

You need the following details:

  • Full name: as stated on your Personal Public Service Number (PPSN) card or official ID.
  • PPSN and date of birth: if you don’t have a PPSN, provide a valid ID (passport, driver’s license, or national ID card) and a utility bill confirming your address outside of the Republic of Ireland.
  • Email address: used to access your account.

How to create your account

Follow the steps below:

Step 1: Set up your account

  • Go to: Create an Individual Account and enter your details
  • Set a password that has at least 8 characters, including an uppercase letter, lowercase letter, number and special character (! @ # $ & ; * -).

Step 2: Email verification

  • Check your email for a verification link (valid for 2 hours).
  • Click the link and follow the instructions to enter additional details to create your account.

Verify your identity:

  • With a PPSN: enter your PPSN and date of birth.
  • Without a PPSN: upload a valid ID and a utility bill. Once verified, you get a unique NNL Identifier (non-National Landlord) in the ‘Edit Profile’ section of your RTB online account.

Step 3: Create profile

  • Landlord details: Enter your phone number and address (including a correspondence address if different).
  • Select your role: choose at least one role, you can add more roles later.
  • Confirm your details: by completing the declaration.

Step 4: Authentication

Account verification: We will verify your account and email you a link to access it.

  • With a PPSN: Verification takes up to 2 hours.
  • Without a PPSN: Document verification takes up to 2 working days.

We will contact you if we are unable to verify your account. You can’t register tenancies until your account is verified.

Step 5: Account created

Once verified, you can access your new registration account. You can now register and manage tenancies from your account homepage.

Company landlords and company agents

What you need

You need the following details:

  • Full name: of the person managing the account.
  • CRO-C number: of the company.
  • Email address: used to access your company’s account.

If you are a CRO-B business, you need to create an individual account.

How to create your company’s account

Follow the steps below:

Step 1: Set up your account

  • Go to: Create Company Account and enter your details.
  • Set a password that has at least 8 characters, including an uppercase letter, lowercase letter, number and special character (! @ # $ & ; * -).

Step 2: Email verification

  • Check your email for a verification link (valid for 2 hours).
  • Click the link and follow the instructions to enter additional details to create your account.
Company details
  • Select your CRO-C number from the CRO search field.
  • If not listed, contact the Companies Registration Office www.cro.ie.
  • If you don’t have a CRO number, upload supporting documents for verification. We will assign a unique Non-CRO identifier once we approve your supporting documents. You can get this in the ‘Edit Company Profile’ section of your account.

Step 3: Select your role

  • Choose at least one role when creating your account. You can add or remove user roles later.

Step 4: Confirmation

  • Confirm your company details by completing the declaration.

Step 5: CRO verification and account created

  • We will verify your company details and send a PIN by post (for CRO-registered companies) or by email (for non-CRO companies).
  • Verification may take up to 5 working days.

We will contact you if we are unable to verify your account. You can’t register tenancies until your account is verified.

Step 6: Account created

Once verified, you can access your new company registration account. You can now register and manage tenancies from your account homepage. You will need to enter both the verification PIN and the company’s correspondence address.

Receivers

What you need

You need the following details:

  • Full name.
  • Company letterhead document confirming your role as a receiver.
  • Email address used to access your account.

How to create your account

Follow the steps below:

Step 1: Set up your account

Step 2: Email verification

  • Check your email for a verification link (valid for 2 hours)
  • Click the link and follow the instructions to enter additional details to create your account.

Verify your identity

Choose ‘I do not have a PPS Number’ and upload a document confirming you are a receiver.

Step 3: Create profile

  • Select ‘Receiver’ as your role. You can add more roles later.
  • Confirm your details by completing the declaration.

Step 4: Authentication

  • We will verify your account and email you a link to access it.
  • Document verification takes up to 2 working days.
  • We will contact you if there are any issues verifying your account. You can’t register tenancies until your verification is complete.

Step 5: Account created

Once verified, you can access your new registration account. You can now register and manage tenancies from your account homepage.

Approved Housing Bodies

The RTB creates online accounts for all Approved Housing Bodies (AHB) and links existing registrations to these accounts.

How to access your account

Contact AHB@rtb.ie to request your account login details. Once logged in, you can:

  • Register tenancies.
  • Manage registrations.
  • Create operators on your account and assign them tenancies.

Student specific accommodation providers

Currently the RTB online account system is not available for student specific accommodation (SSA) providers.
