Step 1 of 8 – Check remit
Before you begin, we need to check if the tenancy comes under our remit.
The RTB can only investigate specific breaches of rental law by landlords, known as improper conducts. You can read more about these on our What the RTB can investigate page.
If you still live in the property and want to report a rent increase that breaks RPZ rules or an invalid Notice of Termination, you should apply for dispute resolution instead. A dispute case will stop a rent increase or Notice of Termination coming into effect, an RTB investigation will not. You can learn more about if a dispute or investigation is the best option for you on our Complain to the RTB about a landlord page.
You can upload any relevant documents or evidence to support your report in Step 7 of this form. For example, a lease agreement, notice of termination, notice of rent review or evidence of rent or deposit payments.
Please provide all details that you can. If you don’t know, just leave the field blank. If you want to report more than one property connected with the same landlord, please add details of other properties in Step 7.
You do not have to give your name or contact details. But it can help the investigation to proceed if we can contact you for more information. We do not share your name and contact details with the landlord. It is possible that the landlord might identify you from the information in this report, even if you do not provide your name or contact details.
Please provide as much detail as you can to increase the chance of a successful investigation. If you don’t know, just leave the field blank.
We do not require any additional details for this report. Please click continue to move to the next step.
We are sorry, we cannot investigate this tenancy as it does not come under the RTB’s remit.
