Tenancy registration check

How do I know if my tenancy is registered?

You can search the Register to see if your tenancy is registered with the RTB. The Register is a list of all private, Approved Housing Body and cost rental tenancies currently registered with the RTB.  There is a separate register for student specific accommodation tenancies.

How to search the Register

  1. Enter the address or Eircode of the rented property.
  2. Confirm the search.
  3. If the result states Found = N, we have not found a registered tenancy for this address.
  4. If the result states Found = Y, we have found a registered tenancy for this address.

Select an address or choose “Enter address manually”.

Important information about the Register

Processing time

Online tenancy registrations appear on the Register within 48 hours. Paper applications take longer to process.

What is included

The Register lists all currently registered private tenancies that comply with annual registration requirements. There is a separate register for Student-Specific Accommodation.

Expired tenancies

If a tenancy has ended and we have been notified, it will no longer appear on the Register. The Register does not keep historical records, so you can’t search for past tenancy registrations.

Address variations

Addresses are self-declared by those registering tenancies, so there may be variations in how they are entered. To improve search results, try different versions of the address.

Case and grammar sensitivity

The Register is sensitive to capital letters, spacing, commas, apostrophes, and other formatting. If an address is entered incorrectly, no results will appear. Trying multiple variations can help find the correct entry.
